Ketamine Assisted Therapy
Are you interested in trying Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)? Have you completed KAP or had other conscious-altering experiences that you would like to process with a therapist?
More and more research is being conducted to study the immense positive effects psychedelics can have in treating PTSD, addiction, anxiety, depression, and more. While this research began in the U.S. in the 50’s and proved successful in treating alcoholism and depression, it was shut down by the Nixon administration’s war on drugs, but has resurfaced recently within the U.S. with help from organizations like MAPS.
Currently, Ketamine is the only legal psychedelic-assisted therapy in California. I collaborate with Daydream MD in San Diego for my local clients who would prefer in-person KAP sessions.
I also work with providers through Journey Clinical who my clients meet with to complete full assessments to ensure they are good candidates for KAP. After your medical assessment with Journey Clinical, you will receive therapeutic doses of Ketamine shipped to your home. You can either take the medicine at home while I support you via telehealth, or you can take the medicine at my office. In either scenario, you will need to have another support person, either in your home if completing at-home sessions, or who can drive you to and from my office.
Integration Therapy assists individuals in processing what they learned during their experiences and applying the lessons to the rest of their day to day lives. Integrating is crucial to the success of Ketamine Assisted therapy. It is important to try to schedule your integration sessions within 24-48 hours following a treatment. Integration therapy is especially helpful for those who experienced difficult or scary experiences, or those who would like to make meaning of the insights that came up.
