Individual and Family Therapy

In individual and family therapy for teens and adults, we will work together to address anxiety, depression, trauma and/or other concerns or problems you are finding in your life. Different approaches will work better for different people (like EMDR vs. CBT for example) and we will work together to figure out how to best help you. I will always take a collaborative approach with you in deciding your treatment, because you will always be the expert of yourself.

EMDR Therapy

Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy or EMDR is a unique form of therapy that was developed to specifically help people heal from traumatic events. Sparknotes version: EMDR Therapy can help you re-process past events that continue to negatively impact you today, resulting in you feeling more in-control over your past, and not the other way around.

Ketamine-Assisted Therapy and Psychedelic Integration Therapy

Are you interested in trying Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)? Have you completed KAP or had other conscious-altering experiences that you would like to process with a therapist?

More and more research is being conducted to study the immense positive effects psychedelics can have in treating PTSD, addiction, anxiety, depression, and more. While this research began in the U.S. in the 50’s and proved successful in treating alcoholism, it was shut down by the Nixon administration’s war on drugs, but has resurfaced recently within the U.S. with help from organizations like MAPS.

EMDR Intensives + KAP Intensives

Are you intrigued by the idea of trying EMDR therapy? Maybe you’ve heard about it or others have recommended it to you. But the thought of attending weekly therapy for months sounds exhausting and expensive?

With EMDR Intensives, we can meet anywhere from half a day to 2 full days in a row to accomplish what we would normally accomplish in 3-6+ months of weekly therapy.

If you’re interested in both EMDR intensives and Ketamine-Assisted Therapy, we can set up a whole individualized wellness retreat for you that combines both of these services.

Trauma-Informed Yoga and Meditation

(That’s me in beautiful Sedona!:))

There’s a reason the practice of yoga has been around for thousands of years, with its roots stemming from India and Africa. Yoga, mindfulness, and breathing techniques can be helpful tools when managing difficult times in and outside of therapy, which is why I find yoga to be such a good complement to psychotherapy.

Mental Health Nutrition

Talk therapy and EMDR are just part of the puzzle. Diet, sleep, and movement are huge components to our mental health as well. While I am not a nutritionist, I can provide psychoeducation within my scope of practice and knowledge regarding some of the ways our physical health is connected to our mental health. Did you know there are certain foods, nutrients, and techniques that are specifically associated with improving mood, decreasing anxiety, and creating a more regular sleep cycle? Let’s work together to figure out how you can live your healthiest life all around.

Immigration Evaluations

Do you have an open legal case for seeking Asylum, Extreme Hardship, or VAWA? Immigration Mental Health Evaluations from a licensed therapist can be a helpful or even critical piece to your case. These evaluations explain why returning to one’s country of origin could be detrimental by providing evidence of persecution or violence suffered, symptoms of PTSD, signs of domestic violence, and more. I can coordinate with your lawyer and provide you with this additional resource for your case.

After speaking with your lawyer, I will meet with you once or twice for 1-2 hours each time to gather information about your history, experiences, symptoms, and case. We can meet in-person at my office, your lawyer's office, or online via videoconference. Then in 2-3 weeks, I will provide you and your lawyer with a 10-16 page psychological evaluation. I have a lot of experience in working with interpreters. Please coordinate with your interpreter to be present for our meetings if necessary.

Yoga Nidra Events

For several years now, I have led Therapeutic Yoga Nidra Group sessions to address a variety of topics including self-compassion, letting go, grounding, relaxation, insomnia, pain management, and more. The most common response I hear after a session: “I feel like I could go to sleep now.” No Yoga experience is required or necessary.

In these events, I will guide you through Yoga Nidra sessions. Yoga Nidra is an ancient yoga practice known as “Yogic Sleep”. While some gentle movements are included at the beginning and end, the majority of the practice consists of an extended guided meditation while lying on your back (or in your most comfortable position). Once here, you don't need to do anything else other than listen to the sound of my voice.

Through the different elements of the guided meditation, one’s body can become so relaxed that you drift into that state between being awake and asleep. It is in this state, between consciousness and unconsciousness, that significant mental and physical healing can occur. In fact, studies have shown that Yoga Nidra can significantly improve symptoms of anxiety, depression, insomnia, PTSD, and other health concerns.

Please contact me and let me know if you would like to be added to an e-mail list notifying you of upcoming Yoga Nidra Events.
